Blog#12 The Shortest Escalator

  Hi, i'm Juri.
Did you take part in the intercollegiate games? I did not. So I had four straight holidays last week because of no class on Thurthday!! I enjoyed :)
By the way. I have had a look at your blogs (#9) and envy your useful gadgets!! I want a smartphone earnestly!! I think Japan has a lot of high technologies, so we are surrounded by many useful things! Such things have brought about great benefits for our life :-)  However, such a useful thing is not always good. I think that it sometimes makes the Japanese lazy. For instance, cellphone is very useful, but thanks to it, our ability to write in Kanji became lower than before, I think. Don’t you think so?  I can't remember Kanji which I want to write once in a while.
Besides, I found an interesting topic on the internet some days ago. Please take a look at this picture.

Have you ever seen such a very short escalator? It is said to be "the shortest escalator in the world". The number of steps is only five!! You can find such a short escalator in underground shopping center in Kawasaki station. In addition, it is also found in Tokyo area. There are stairs next to the escalator. It seems more efficient to take them, so I think the escalator is not necessary and a waste of electricity :-(  What do you think about it??

#10 My Part-time Job

 Hi, I'm Saho.
Today, I'd like to tell you about my part-time job. I work at a book store in Ikebukuro.
Do you know "Asahiya shoten"? It belongs to a department store, so the way of service is different from other jobs a little.
A lot of college students work there, so I can enjoy working with them.
Mainly, I work as a cashier during the business hours. After that, I arrange books in order for about an hour and then, I can know various books.

I found a very cute book! It is Kiki & Lala's diary. I love the character, so I want it!
Everyone who works there is very very kind, so I'm happy:-) I intend to continue my work.

If you have a chance, please come to our store!

#9 My Favorite Gadget

Hi, I'm Juri Hayashi.

Sorry for the  late blog but my computer keeps going funny:-(  I bought it about 5 years ago and it has a lot of data such as music and some moving images. So my compter takes a long time to move. I want to buy a new compter with a great capacity!! Do you have IPad? It sounds useful too.
Today I want to introduce my favorite gadget, iPod. Do you have it? It is a nice gadget to listen to music, you know. I always leave it when I go to school. In my green IPod, there are more than one thousand songs, that is, IPod makes possible to bring a lot of CDs at once. IPod also has various functions such as  playing a moving image and some game. I can spend a time plesasantly with it.

My favorite Japanese artiste
"STRAIGHTENER"

By the way, I sometimes see dangerous people who ride a bicycle while listening to music. They can not recognize any sound such as approaching car and take their mind off their drive. In fact, the police in Kanagawa Prefecture fined less than 50,000 yen for such a dangerous drive. Have you ever seen the people like them? We have to need a thorough review!!

See you :)

Blog#9 My Favorite Book

Hi. I'm Mari.

Today, I will introduce my favorite book.

I like to read books. And I often read books in train. It takes about one and a half hours to go to the university from my house so I can read about two books in a week. So I recommend you to read books in train.

Yesterday, I read a book named " Shitamachi Rocket". Do you know it? It was awarded Naoki prize in 2011. Naoki prize is one of the most famous prize for novels in Japan.

I work at a book store as my part time job. So I saw many people who bought the book. Many of them are officeworker. I wanted to read it very much. Then yesterday I found the book in the library in the university.
It's very lucky for me. I read it in a day because it was very interesting! It is a story about dream for a man.
I recommend it!Please read it.

Blog#9: My gadget

Hi, I'm Yuri. Today, I'm going to tell you about one of my gadgets, my smartphone. I bought my iPhone about four months ago. At that time, I was very happy and I used it everyday everytime. One day, I walked to my station to go to tennis. I left five minutes late, so I ran for the train. But, when I arrived at the station, I discovered that I had lost my iPhone!!!

I searched all over the bag and my pocket for the missing iPhone. But, I couldn't find my iPhone anywhere. Immediately, I reported the damage to the police, and asked softbankshop so as not to be use somebody. I gave up searching and I was very sad. :( But! At that same day, my sister came across my iPhone at a cram school near the station! I was very happy to hear the news. I thanked her, and now, I use my iPhone carefully.

Blog#8: My remarkable person

Hi, I'm Yuri. How are you doing? It's really gotten cold! Today, I'm going to tell you about my remarkable person.

My remarkable person is Kimiko Date, who is a very famous Japanese professional tennis player. She is 40 years old now. She started playing tennis when she was 7 years old. She was the first Asian woman who has ever been ranked in the top-ten women players in the world.

In 1996,  she announced her retirement. Yet, she came back on court nearly 12 years later, announcing an unexpected comeback in April 2008. She was 37 years old at that time. After the comeback, she has won several world titles. She became the second-oldest player who won a singles title on the Women’s Tennis Association Tour. I think one of her charm points is her smile. I like her face dimples. :) She is 40 years old now, but she is still an active professional tennis player and even she is setting a new record. People tend to give up things because of their age, but she is not the one like that. Her challenging spirit is totally amazing.

Blog#9 Gadget

 Hello. I'm Saho.
Recently, it has been pleasantly cool. I like Autumn:-)

By the way, I'd like to talk about my gadget. In this summer, I changed my cellphone to a smart phone. Wherever I go, I take it.

This is mine. I use docomo's smart phone, MEDIAS. It is waterproofing phone, so I can use it in a bath, at the beach, and at a kitchen.

My favorite application is "Viber". We can call free of charge! I prefer calling to emailing, so it is good for me. Also, I often use the Internet. When I was a mobile phone user, I cannot see PC site, but now, I can see such site everywhere.

Smart phone is very convinient. I cannot live without it!
