Blog#8: My remarkable person

Hi, I'm Yuri. How are you doing? It's really gotten cold! Today, I'm going to tell you about my remarkable person.

My remarkable person is Kimiko Date, who is a very famous Japanese professional tennis player. She is 40 years old now. She started playing tennis when she was 7 years old. She was the first Asian woman who has ever been ranked in the top-ten women players in the world.

In 1996,  she announced her retirement. Yet, she came back on court nearly 12 years later, announcing an unexpected comeback in April 2008. She was 37 years old at that time. After the comeback, she has won several world titles. She became the second-oldest player who won a singles title on the Women’s Tennis Association Tour. I think one of her charm points is her smile. I like her face dimples. :) She is 40 years old now, but she is still an active professional tennis player and even she is setting a new record. People tend to give up things because of their age, but she is not the one like that. Her challenging spirit is totally amazing.

  2. Hi.
I didn't know her in detail. But I found that she was a hardworker!!Perhaps, the women's age of the best physical strength is in their twenties. So she must make a great effort beyond my imagination!! We have to follow her example!

  4. Yuri,
I agree - she is truly remarkable. I really enjoyed watching her at the 2011 Wimbledon. She really played amazingly. Did you see the matches? In fact, her matches were the highlight of Wimbledon for me this year, which I watch religiously.
She has always been a good player, but her comeback seems even stronger. I admire her strength and determination. Also, she seems like a smart person because she always speaks so well. I too think her dimples are lovely, as is her smile.

By the way, you write "one" above, but I think you mean "won." Why don't you fix it?
